A green future.
Our mission
Our mission is to promote more sustainable mobility practice by encouraging travellers to embrace carsharing.
Your cars
Today’s cars are idle and parked 92% of the time. This means we only drive between 1:30hrs to 2:00hrs everyday. This is one of the most obvious inefficiencies of private car ownership and it puts a lot of strain on our roads, cities and infrastructure to store and park these under-utilized vehicles. Owning these cars also puts a massive financial strain on car owners.
A change from buying more cars to car sharing can help to make our cities more liveable and reduce traffic over time.
Cars standing idle are wasting assets and sharing them promotes efficient use of these assets, lowers spending by cities and promotes access to economic opportunities for car owners.
It’s often thought that increased use of cars would cause wear and give them a shorter lifespan, but a lot of wear including corrosion, actually happens when the car is sitting still.
Why share?
Car sharing offers a viable solution to these environmental challenges. By sharing cars you get access to more car options that if you own a car and you contribute to the reduction of the overall number of cars on the road, leading to lower emissions.
Research have shown that households participating in car-sharing programs can reduce their carbon footprint by up to 40%. Cities like Vancouver, which have embraced car sharing, report significant reductions in personal car use, resulting in improved air quality and decreased urban congestion.
The future is electric:
We’re excited about the growing adoption of electric cars around the globe and in the South Africa. Tarlen is dedicated to encouraging South Africa to gradually adopt an eco-friendly means of transportation. We’re gearing to give more incentives to encourage eco-friendly car owners earn from their car by sharing it on Tarlen.
